Dreams

Dreams and understanding them more became something of a significant feature in my life from 1996. Of course I’d shown some interest in them at various times in my life, particularly nightmares and those prompted by Hitchcock’s black and white drama films in my teens; but I’d not worked with them or used them as useful interactive founts of knowledge. Modern science has a lot to say about them as sources of information to help uncover hidden emotions, stress, or waking-life concerns. I seem to have had a fairly wide range of them in my time, including black and wide and full vibrant colour Cecil B. de-Mille epics. So adopting the assumption that, since they occur while sleeping (daydreams are another manifestation which I’ll set aside for now), they are produced from within, I further extend this to the notion that they are in nature benign and purely sources of information for me. Yes, the emotional charge that some of them carry can be quite intimidating, but is that not a way of grabbing my attention and encouraging me to pay attention to something that I may otherwise be ignoring. As to their predictive nature, I see the outer world as an echo, a reflection of the inner and so the two are intertwined; the appearance in the outer of symbols from the inner is a further demonstration of the need to pay attention and bridge the two.
