Shamanism

This is probably the optimum place to propose ideas of the Otherworld before delving into how it may be interacting with our lives. What is this place, where is it? It is many things but mostly it seems comprises of no-thing and is everywhere and nowhere, until we start looking for it. Something like quantum reality, either a particle or a wave – or both? An energy that is indeterminant until observed or measured. It is the software that runs in the background of life, the stories – myths – I tell myself about who and what I am, invisible until acted out in the fabric of life when I decide what to be. The world of energy that carries information would be a good start, the collective unconscious, interacting with us through the individual psyche – the buffer between the human mind and the mind-blowing infinity of consciousness. Ancient, and more recent, civilisations talk of the Gods, these powerful yet invisible forces that exert such influence over human life, that they sought to placate and interact with through ritual and sacrifice. Aboriginals talk of the Dreaming and the rainbow serpent, Mayans worshipped the feathered serpent Kukulkan and several traditions, Chinese included, revered dragons - all manifestations of powerful energy like the dragon lines, electromagnetic lines of force that flow around our home planet. When seen through the lens of the imagination these are interpretations, visualisations of the interaction of powerful forces, the yin and yang double helix of our dna writhing in the dance of life. It is poetry, art, science, literature … it is all things, a place of infinite possibilities, a never-ending story, the universe singing in praise of itself.
