Graduation

At the time, channelling to me meant spooky seances, trance mediums and little else; so I was decidedly uneasy as I strolled into the bar at Runnings Park in March 1998, still in my business suit and tie. Another course participant came in shortly after, took one look at me, turned around and walked out. We both wondered if we’d come to the right place, for different reasons. The introductory weekend was full of new concepts and ideas for me – meditation, psychic energy and awareness, chakras, psychometry and auras; almost nothing I could relate to from my education and experience to date, so I was still dubious. But I was shocked to the core at the practical session on Healing, when I experienced, felt, something which seemed to be confirmed by my partner in the exercise at feedback. Part Two of the course was in December, so I had plenty of time to assimilate this new experience and practice before the concluding experiential weekend in December, with further practical channelling sessions. Throughout this period I was photographer for the business that had employed me since 1990 as a chartered QS, so I was still finding a balance between my old and new careers. But the following July felt like a graduation in more than one sense – not only had I completed the channelling course – so could now move on to further developing my abilities independently - but I’d handed in my notice and would be setting up independently as a freelance photographer.
